New Member Program
Our five-to-eight-week Bonds of Sisterhood program helps new members learn about Fraternity and chapter life and the responsibilities of membership. These responsibilities include upholding Alpha Xi Delta ideals and standards, meeting financial obligations, pursuing personal and academic excellence and participating in chapter activities.
Why did you choose to serve as our New Member Orientation Chair? What advice do you have for our new members?
“My new member period was one of the most memorable parts of my time in Alpha Xi Delta and I wanted to be able to use my experiences as a way to help teach others. Alpha Xi Delta provides the opportunity to grow in an organization that focuses on “Realizing Your Potential” and helping members become the best version of themselves! The best way to ensure you are getting the most out of your new member period is by getting to knowall of our sisters and attending all the events you possibly can! I am so excited to get to work with all of our New Members this upcoming Fall!"
-Kate Tydeman, NMOC
What was your most special memory from your New Member period and why?
“My most special memory from my new member period would be from the night of Big Little reveal. My big is the person who changed my mind about Greek life and convinced me to go through recruitment. She changed my life for the better and I'm so glad she did. Finally getting her as my big was special to me because she was already my best friend, but this brought us even closer. Meeting my big was one of the best things to happen to me. I can't wait to see my future in Alpha Xi Delta unfold.”
–Montana Moore, Fall 2015 New Member Class
What was your favorite part of your New Member period?
“I loved meeting all my new sisters for the first time! Each week during my New Member period, I was paired up with a different sister, who was called my Rose Buddy. This sister would go out tot lunch with me and walk me back to my room after New Member events. This was a fun and easy way for me to get introduced to a lot of sisters before initiation. After meeting so many of my new sisters, I couldn’t wait to be an initiated member!” `
–Alex Thurnall, Spring 2015 New Member Class
What was the most important thing you learned during your New Member period?
“The most important thing I learned is to be dependable. For our organization to run smoothly, we all have to keep our commitments. I also learned that this is an amaXIng group of girls! My favorite part of my New Member period was getting to know sisters better. We spent so much time together during those few weeks that by the end, it felt like we had actually known each other for so much longer. And during this time we got to participate in socials and sisterhood bonding!”
